23 de ago. de 2007 · The Izusu diesels out of the NPR' are goos engines but at 700 lbs they are a bit heavy for an S10. I almost forgot there is the good old 6.2/6.5 diesel. About the same weight and size as a big block and uses the same mounts. 85 S10 Reg Cab, Long Bed, 2.8, 5spd, Runs like a top.
15 de jan. de 2006 · 77 posts · Joined 2006. #11 · Jan 19, 2006. My suggestion would first be to swap in a 6.5L Turbo Diesel from the 90s 3/4 and 1 ton trucks and suburbans. It produces more power and probably gets better gas mileage. But either way, they are both heavy motors, the 6.2 is more of a boat anchor though.
16 de set. de 2009 · Have a few NEW Kohler 64 HP diesel engines w/ turbo. This is a complet skid mounted flywheel to radiator, hoses, fan, fully assembled unit . I'm checking on addapter ( not priced with the diesel ) to replace a V-6. Will let you know what I come up with. Not Big H.P. but, M.P.G. Well the !st 10's were 58 hp w/o the turbo.
27 de abr. de 2010 · 3991 posts · Joined 2009. #10 · May 4, 2010. talk to diesel he is in the middle of a 6.6 dirtymax in a 1st gen and is very into the diesels. 94 s10, hp60 front 5.13, 14 bolt, disc converted, lincoln locked, 5.13s, all ss brake lines, 5spd swap with 17.5 inches of lift on 44" tsl's with M/T true Beadlocks, full custome 1/4" bumper. 4 de abr. de 2018 · I am looking at doing a diesel swap on the 2002 S10 blazer. As for this swap like I said in the original post Im looking to find anyone that has experience with smaller diesels that they might recommend. I know that a diesel motor will not just bolt right in. Fabrication of certain things is not the issue.

2 de mar. de 2011 · The 5.7 Olds Diesel GM offered didn't fare much better, and the 6.2 Detroit which replaced it has a real bad tendency to develop cracking in the heads. Nowadays, the EPA and CARB are pretty much killing any chances of diesel making much of an impact on the non-HD market. Every flower dies, no matter the thorns. .

Your best bet is to join the isuzupup.com forum. There's a bunch of diesel guys on there that are just a wealth of knowledge.
16 de mai. de 2017 · So I wanted to find a cheap, dime a dozen small diesel engine where parts were readily available for. I decided on a 1996-1998 VW tdi engine that I would mate with the s10 T5. I looked for about three months, five times day (I get focused) and my budget was $1000. I finally found an ugly scab for $920.

This is the same engine trans that comes in the 80's s10 diesels with just a few differences. The motor mounts are differant and with certain radiators you have to chane out the water pump.
