The Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS) was a military flying school based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, England. The school, established in 1997, was a tri-service organisation and trained helicopter aircrews for all three British armed forces.

No.1 Flying Training School trains helicopter aircrew for the Armed Forces. The Central Flying School (Helicopter) delivers Qualified Helicopter Instructors.
5 de fev. de 2024 · The Defence Helicopter Flying School formed at RAF Shawbury to consolidate the helicopter training of all three services. 2 Flight Training Squadron of the RAF, 705 Naval Air Squadron and 670 Army Air Corps Squadron amalgamated in the new School.
Most of the helicopter training activity in Low Flying Area 9 is carried out by No.1 Flying Training School, which trains helicopter aircrew for frontline service in the Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force, and The Central Flying School (Helicopters), which trains the next generation of military helicopter instructors.

No. 1 Flying Training School (No. 1 FTS) (formerly the Defence Helicopter Flying School) provides basic helicopter pilot training for the RAF, Royal Navy and Army Air Corps (AAC), as well as foreign and commonwealth countries, using twenty-nine Airbus Juno HT1.

2 de set. de 2019 · The upgraded facilities were only opened in April and the Defence Helicopter Flying School has already seen its first set of pilots graduate. The school now boasts 29 Juno helicopters - the biggest fleet in the country, as well as three Jupiter aircraft. The new helicopters have modern touch-screen avionic displays.
