5 de dez. de 2020 · December 6, 2020 12:02 AM. Cyd was insanely jealous of Kathryn Grayson's breasts. Kathryn was very well-endowed and the studio often took great pains to play down her impressive bust when costuming her. Kathryn starred in "Kiss Me Kate" which was originally released in 3D.

From her WIKIPEDIA page: In her autobiography, Charisse reflected on her experience with Astaire and Kelly: 'As one of the handful of girls who worked with both of those dance geniuses, I think I can give an honest comparison. In my opinion, Kelly is the more inventive choreographer of the two.
Of course Cyd Charisse, a former dancer with the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo, was the better dancer, but unless she was dancing, she was leaden, a problem Ginger Rogers NEVER had. It's also worth nothing that Astaire and Rogers danced together on film for the first time in 1933.
18 de abr. de 2019 · Though I wonder, if Cyd Charisse did have a gift for comedy, why they didn't consider giving her the ingenue role (making it a sexier newcomer), and then the Broadway Melody sequence less disconnected from the rest of the film. I don't know much about Charisse, so perhaps other folks who do could venture an opinion.

3 de abr. de 2024 · The black shoeshine dancer is Leroy Danels. Directed by Vincente Minnelli; the choreography is by Michael Kidd; the songs are by Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz. The title and three of these songs are from a 1931 Broadway revue that starred Astaire and his sister Adele. Cyd Charisse's singing was dubbed by India Adams."
17 de set. de 2022 · I guess it's not surprising that MGM could accommodate and utilize both Ann MIller and Cyd Charisse during their years together at the studio. Ann's comedic talents and charisma were not to be denied. Besides their different dancing styles, I don't think Cyd Charisse could have ever carried off Lois/Bianca in Kiss Me Kate or Claire in On the Town.

14 de mai. de 2023 · Quite a hit-free score. A strange thing about the movie is that there's no dance duet between Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse. Comden and Green wrote (with Previn) what they thought was a great love ballad, with cynical lyrics. Gene decided to do it as a fast number with Cyd, in a costume warehouse, where they try on various costumes.
