As a result of this, he leads all-time for innings pitched (7354 2/3), wins (511), and losses (316). If you wanted a staff ace, you'd go for Walter Johnson , but if you wanted a pitcher who would eat up an insane number of innings and still be solid doing it, you would want Denton True Young on your team.

Later in the season, he won his only AAU championship, but hampered by an ankle injury he failed to make a significant challenge in defense of his Olympic crown and finished 11th in Melbourne.
