  3. He died on 22 February 1845. He married (17 May 1784) Katherine Elizabeth, daughter of Adm. John Forbes, an Irish MP, and granddaughter of the 3rd earl of Granard; they had one son and three daughters. His son, William Pole Tylney Long-Wellesley (1788–1857) succeeded as 4th earl of Mornington and 2nd Baron Maryborough .

  4. William Pole-Tylney-Long-Wellesley, 4th Earl of Mornington. As Lord Wellesley had no legitimate children, the English barony of 1797 and the marquessate became extinct on his death in 1842. He was succeeded in the other titles by his younger brother William Wellesley-Pole, 1st Baron Maryborough, who became the third Earl of Mornington.
