He narrowly lost the bid to become secretary-general of the United Nations in 1953.

In 1834 Mackenzie became first mayor of Toronto, but in 1836 reformers were routed in Assembly elections. During 1837 Mackenzie organized armed demonstrations, but lost control of events.

  7. 19 de abr. de 2024 · In 2016, she was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists and in 2017–18 she was the William Lyon Mackenzie King Visiting Professor of Canadian Studies at Harvard University. Prior to joining NSCAD University she was professor of art history at McGill University.
