William Blackwood (20 November 1776 – 16 September 1834) was a Scottish publisher who founded the firm of William Blackwood and Sons . Life. Blackwood was born in Edinburgh on 20 November 1776. At the age of 14 he was apprenticed to a firm of booksellers in Edinburgh, and he followed his calling also in Glasgow and London for several years.

William Blackwood (born Nov. 20, 1776, Edinburgh—died Sept. 16, 1834, Edinburgh) was a Scottish bookseller and publisher, founder of the publishing firm of William Blackwood and Sons, Ltd. After learning antiquarian bookselling, Blackwood set up a business in Edinburgh in 1804.

Jimmy Blackwood, Wayne Little, Brad White, and Randy Byrd remained as the Blackwood Brothers, and appeared on the Gaither Homecoming video Rock of Ages (2008). Soon after that performance, White left and was replaced with Jimmy's younger brother, Billy Blackwood. In 2012, Byrd was replaced with Butch Owens.
