William Banks (19 April 1719 – September 1761) was an English barrister and the father of Sir Joseph Banks, the naturalist. He was also a Member of Parliament for six years, and from 1733 to 1741 was known as William Hodgkinson. [1]

A four-time TAC triple jump champion (1980-81, 83, 85), in 1985 Willie Banks won that meet with 17.97 (58-11½) to become the first American since Daniel Ahearn in 1911 to set a triple jump world record. Banks had a long career internationally, first representing the US at the 1977 Universiade (3rd).
