Mit insgesamt 13 Medaillen war Willi Melliger der erfolgreichste Schweizer Springreiter bei Europameisterschaften. [2] Erstmals am Weltcupfinal nahm Willi Melliger 1982 mit Trumpf-Buur teil. 1983 errang Melliger mit Van Gogh zwei grosse Erfolge: Er wurde zum zweiten Mal Schweizer Meister (dies sollte ihm insgesamt sechs Mal gelingen).
Wilhelm "Willi" Melliger (26 July 1953 – 16 January 2018) was a Swiss equestrian and Olympic medalist. With his horse Calvaro V , he won two Olympic silver medals: the first in show jumping at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the second as part of team jumping at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney .

17 de jan. de 2018 · Legendary Swiss Olympic jumping athlete Willi Melliger passed away on Tuesday 16 January following a stroke. He was 64. Together with his gelding Calvaro, they were the dream team, winning the silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and the team silver at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney (AUS).
