23 de set. de 2019 · In 1919, a well-traveled 34-year-old Jesuit priest, Fr. Edmund Walsh, helped Georgetown found a new school. Walsh imagined the School of Foreign Service, the first school of its kind in the United States, would educate students from a global perspective and advance the cause of peace.
Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service was established in 1919, immediately after the First World War, because of the need to adjust to a changing world. It was the first school of international affairs in the United States, predating the creation of the U.S. State Department Foreign Service.
Students in this concentration are required to take at least 18 credits of courses approved for the concentration, including the 3-credit course, MSFS 570 – Practice of Policy Tradecraft, in the spring semester of year one. Concentrators must take at least 3 credits in each subfield and at least 9 credits in one primary subfield.
