30 de mar. de 2023 · The three most popular colleges in Durham, and hardest to get into, are St Chad’s, University College, and St Mary’s. However, these colleges have significantly lower acceptance rates compared to the average.
Durham University has 17 colleges, of which University College is the oldest, founded in 1832. The newest college is South, founded in 2020. The last single-sex college, St Mary's, became mixed in 2005 with the admittance of male undergraduates. One college, Ustinov, admits only postgraduates .

University College or “Castle” is a thriving living community within Durham University. We have some 750 undergraduates and 700 postgraduates, and 300 members of University staff are attached to the College through the Senior Common Room.
