Princess Thyra of Denmark (Thyra Amalie Caroline Charlotte Anna; 29 September 1853 – 26 February 1933) was the youngest daughter and fifth child of Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Kassel. In 1878, she married Ernest Augustus, the exiled heir to the Kingdom of Hanover.

Thyra. Daughter of Christian IX and Louise of Hesse-Kassel. Duchess of Cumberland through her marriage to Ernest August of Hanover, Duke of Cumberland. They had six children of whom the two eldest sons died at a young age.
Princess Thyra (1853-1933) is said to have had a milder temperament than her sisters, and Christian IX later spoke of her as his “good daughter”. She received the title of Duchess of Cumberland when she in 1878 married Duke Ernst August, the former Crown Prince of Hanover.
