Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk, KG, PC (10 March 1473 – 25 August 1554) was a prominent English politician and nobleman of the Tudor era. He was an uncle of two of the wives of King Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard, both of whom were beheaded, and played a major role in the machinations affecting these royal marriages.

Description. Thomas Howard, third Duke of Norfolk (1473-1554), was one of the most powerful nobles in the country. His first wife was Anne of York, the sister of Henry VII’s queen, Elizabeth of York. He was uncle to Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s second wife, and to Katherine Howard, Henry’s fifth wife.
The English soldier and councilor Thomas Howard, 3d Duke of Norfolk (1473-1554), was a prominent figure in the government under Henry VIII. He led the conservative faction and opposed both Wolsey and Cromwell. Thomas Howard was born at a time when the Howard family was rising to prominence through his grandfather's attachment to the Yorkist kings.
