14 de mai. de 2018 · Cromwell, Thomas (c.1485–1540).Thomas Cromwell was the second of the great ministers to whom Henry VIII gave much trust and an imposing array of offices; he was the one most personally associated with the programme which made Henry VIII supreme head of the church in England.

Thomas Cromwell, primo conte di Essex (Putney, 1485 circa – Tower Hill, 28 luglio 1540), è stato un politico inglese. Servì come primo ministro di re Enrico VIII dal 1532 al 1540. Il Lord protettore d'Inghilterra, Oliver Cromwell (1599–1658), discendeva dalla sorella di Thomas, Catherine Cromwell.
Thomas Cromwell’s sister Katherine had married a Welsh lawyer, Morgan Williams. Their son Richard Williams went to live in the household of his uncle Thomas, becoming his protégé. Even after Thomas Cromwell fell from power, Richard continued to prosper at court, gaining a knighthood and lands in Huntingdonshire.
