Terence Chimes (born 5 July 1956, Stepney, London, England) is an English musician, best known as the original drummer of punk rock group The Clash. He played with them from July 1976 to November 1976, January 1977 to April 1977, and again from May 1982 to February 1983 both preceding and succeeding his replacement Topper Headon .

In January 2003, shortly after the death of Joe Strummer, the band, including original drummer Terry Chimes, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked the Clash number 28 on its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time".

Terry Chimes. English drummer, born 5 July 1956 in Stepney, London, UK. He was the original drummer for The Clash before Topper Headon, but performed with the band when Headon was unavailable. Chimes played session and live work for several bands, including Billy Idol, Johnny Thunders, and Black Sabbath .
In January 1977, The band signed to CBS and with drummer Terry Chimes recorded their peerless debut album ‘The Clash’, featuring classic numbers like ‘White Riot’, ‘I’m So Bored Of The USA’ and ‘London’s Burning’.
