Susan Polgar (born April 19, 1969, as Polgár Zsuzsanna and often known as Zsuzsa Polgár) is a Hungarian-American chess grandmaster. Polgár was Women's World Chess Champion from 1996 to 1999. On FIDE's Elo rating system list of July 1984, at the age of 15, she became the top-ranked female chess player in the world.

Susan Polgar is a grandmaster, coach, and Hall of Fame inductee. She is the first woman to earn the grandmaster title by norms and rating, and the first triple crown winner of the Women's World Championship. She has won 12 Olympiad medals and coached men's college teams to national championships.

In 1999, Polgar was stripped of her title by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE; the international chess organization) for failing to agree to match conditions.
