Strangers / Lovers is the debut studio album by Norwegian singer Dagny, released on 2 October 2020. [9] Release [ edit] The album was divided into two halves. On 14 May 2020, Dagny announced that the first half, dubbed Side A, which included the first six tracks off the official album, would be released on 22 May 2020. [10] .

is the debut studio album by Dagny, released through Little Daggers Records. The album is split into two parts: Side A and Side B. She released the first half on 22 May 2020, consisting of six tracks. The rest of the track list was released on 2 October 2020.
By the time Dagny dropped the promo and videos, the COVID-19 pandemic began. She was set on releasing the record though, and told Idolator, "It was never an option not to release the album". It was her guitarist and executive producer who noted that it sounded like "two sides of story" which made her decision to release it in two parts. Side A is set in a specific order, which tells the progress of a relationship. She added, "Side A felt more like summer and going into a lighter season. Whilst Side B felt darker and more thoughtful like the autumn."
She revealed that she had around "184 fully written songs" along with several drafts. She narrowed it down between fifteen favourite songs and realised that most of them connected to tell a story, which made the process easier. She described Side B as "bit bolder and more emotional" compared to Side A, the lyrics different. One of the songs, "I Just Hope You're Okay", did not make it on the album.
She explained in an interview, "The whole overall concept was following the relationship from before and during, which is Side A, and then after, which is Side B. The debut album STRANGERS / LOVERS was released in two parts during 2020, and was described by Norway’s Aftenposten newspaper as “some of the best of modern pop music of 2020. Not only in Norway, but also globally” – with glowing press adoration elsewhere from The Guardian, BBC Music, The Metro and more.
Her music is pop-based, incorporating elements of indie, dance, synth, electro and disco. She has released one studio album, Strangers / Lovers (2020), one EP, Ultraviolet (2016), and has plans for a trilogy of mini-albums to be released starting in 2024.
19 de set. de 2020 · Strangers / Lovers is a fantastic up-tempo synth pop record by Norwegian artist Dagny that hits all sorts of marks in great melodies, catchy lyrics and danceable jams. I heard the track Somebody on the Amazon Original series Panic recently and had to know who sang the song as I’ve had it in my head all week.
