St Peter's vibrant and close-knit student community comprises over 600 undergraduate, postgraduate and visiting students from around the world. History. St Peter’s was founded by Bishop Francis James Chavasse (1846-1928), and his son Christopher Maude Chavasse (1884-1962), our first Master (1929-1939). The course at St Peter's The College expects to admit about five students to read Physics each year. This subject has a relatively large number of lectures (about ten a week), which are complemented by practicals in the University laboratories, but individual contact and intellectual development through tutorials, led by college tutors, are an essential part of the course.
