At St John's we are committed to our mission, the Marist charism and forming young boys into fine young men. While our achievements in academics, sports, arts and culture are external indications of a fine school, it is not what the essence of our College is all about. We are a Marist Catholic school and we are unashamedly proud of that.
St. John's College is a private liberal arts college with campuses in Annapolis, Maryland, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. As the successor institution of King William's School , a preparatory school founded in 1696, St. John's is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the United States; [6] [7] the current institution received a collegiate charter in 1784. In 1947, the Anglican Diocese, under the direction of Bishop Spence Burton, founded St. John’s College. Being the first secondary school of the Diocese, it was named after the patron saint of the Diocese. The school was located on Market Street North until 1979, when it was moved to its present campus on Bishop Eldon Drive, off Bethel Avenue.
