Skip Schumaker is a former second baseman who played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins. He has a career batting average of .278, 284 hits, 28 home runs and 26 stolen bases. He won the Darryl Kile Award in 2009 and the NL Manager of the Year in 2023.

15 de nov. de 2023 · Miami’s Skip Schumaker won the National League award in balloting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Hyde led Baltimore through some very lean years before the Orioles improved to 83-79 in 2022 and he finished second in voting to Cleveland manager Terry Francona.

Schumaker, who played for the Marlins from 2004 to 2009, is looking to become the fourth skipper in franchise history to win the award and the eighth person to win it in his first year as a manager.
