He is the co-inventor of probabilistic encryption, Zero-Knowledge Proofs, Verifiable Random Functions and many of the protocols that are the foundations of modern cryptography. He is also the founder and CEO of Algorand, a decentralized, secure, and scalable blockchain platform.

  6. Silvio Micali is a visionary cryptographer and mathematician who pioneered new methods for efficient verification of mathematical proofs in complexity theory. He and his co-winner Shafi Goldwasser laid the foundations for the science of cryptography with their 1984 paper "Probabilistic Encryption". He has also made contributions to randomness, pseudorandomness, interactive proofs, zero-knowledge proofs, and other topics in computer science and mathematics.
