Silvio Micali (born October 13, 1954) is an Italian computer scientist, professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the founder of Algorand, a proof-of-stake blockchain cryptocurrency protocol.

Silvio Micali is a renowned cryptographer and professor at MIT. He created Algorand, a high performance Layer 1 blockchain, and invented many cryptographic innovations such as probabilistic encryption and zero-knowledge proofs.
17 de ago. de 2022 · Silvio Micali is a leading expert in cryptography, zero knowledge, pseudorandom generation, secure protocols, and mechanism design and blockchain. He is the co-inventor of probabilistic encryption, Zero-Knowledge Proofs, Verifiable Random Functions and many of the protocols that are the foundations of modern cryptography. He is also the founder and CEO of Algorand, a decentralized, secure, and scalable blockchain platform.
Silvio Micali is a visionary cryptographer and mathematician who pioneered new methods for efficient verification of mathematical proofs in complexity theory. He and his co-winner Shafi Goldwasser laid the foundations for the science of cryptography with their 1984 paper "Probabilistic Encryption". He has also made contributions to randomness, pseudorandomness, interactive proofs, zero-knowledge proofs, and other topics in computer science and mathematics.
