A feminista Selma James nasceu em 1930 e ainda continua ativa à frente da Greve Mundial de Mulheres. Em 1972, foi coautora —com a italiana Mariarosa Dalla Costa— de um ensaio que revolucionou a visão existente sobre o papel do trabalho doméstico não remunerado no sistema capitalista.
