Samuel Liddell (or Liddel) MacGregor Mathers (8 or 11 January 1854 – 5 or 20 November 1918), born Samuel Liddell Mathers, was a British occultist and member of the S.R.I.A.. He is primarily known as one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a ceremonial magic order of which offshoots still exist.

Biografia. Filho de William M. Mathers e Miss Collins. Nasceu em 08 de Janeiro de 1854 e no nº11 da Rua De Beauvior Place, Hackney. Seu pai morreu muito cedo e ele viveu com sua mãe viúva em Bournemouth até a morte da mesma em 1885. Em 1877, Mathers foi iniciado na Maçonaria, na Loja Hengist Nº195 de Bournemouth.
