Sir George Murray GCB GCH FRS (6 February 1772 – 28 July 1846) was a British soldier and politician from Scotland.
Sir George Herbert Murray GCB GCVO ISO PC (27 September 1849 – 4 April 1936) was a British civil servant. [1]

Murray was born in Perth, the second son of Sir William Murray, of Ochtertyre, 5th Baronet, and was educated at the Royal High School, Edinburgh and the University of Edinburgh.

27 de abr. de 2011 · Sir George Evelyn Pemberton Murray was born on 25 July 1880. 2 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir George Herbert Murray and Hon. Helen Mary Mulholland. 1 He married Muriel Mildred Elizabeth Beresford-Hope, daughter of Philip Beresford-Hope and Evelyn Frost, on 10 January 1906. 2 He died on 30 March 1947 at age 66. 1
In 1829-1830 Charles Sturt travelled down the Murrumbidgee to its junction with a big river – its name recorded by Major Thomas Mitchell as the ‘Millewah’ – which he called the Murray in Sir George Murray’s honour.

It was painted in 1814 when Major-General Sir George Murray had reached the height of his powers and achieved all the praise and respect from his army colleagues that a general could expect. He held the post of Wellington's QMG in the Peninsula and was the Duke's right-hand man.
