6 de out. de 2022 · New York. I found my way to Ronnie's work via "Rough Mix" as well, and really like this album too. "One For The Road" and "Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance" are pretty darn good too. If you don't have it, "Mahoney's Last Stand" is pretty good too, although largely instrumentals - the album was made with Ronnie Wood for a movie. Lynd8,Oct 6, 2022. #2.
8 de ago. de 2007 · His songs were always a highlight of the Faces albums, as well as his "Rough Mix" collaboration with Pete Townshend. On his own, I would highly recommend: "Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance" A&M SP-3638, "Anymore For Anymore" GM L-1013, and "One For the Road" Island, ILPS 9366. But you'll have to go vinyl for them.
16 de ago. de 2004 · The music of Ronnie Lane is near and dear to my heart. There are quite a few releases available, but many of the recent ones are live, radio broadcasts or alternate takes. Start with his proper albums, Anymore for Anymore, Slim Chance and One for the Road, and go on from there. You can't go wrong with these three though.
21 de out. de 2020 · I absolutely love Ronnie Lane. I wish they'd repeat the Ronnie Lane at the BBC from when this was first shown years ago. It's never been repeated and I didn't have BBC Four then.
19 de ago. de 2020 · Unfortunately I am not familiar with Ronnie Lane outside of Pete Townshend's solo records Rough Mix and Who Came First. Rough Mix, from 1977, is one of my favorite albums period. Lane's tunes are absolutely stellar; Annie, Nowhere To Run, Cat Melody, April Fool... so glad they are part of my DNA. If you like his songs on Rough Mix, you'll like ...

He did a superb job curating, hunting down lost material, and keeping the quality at the highest possible level (remember our subject, Ronnie Lane, famously used the SAME TAPE for several back to back albums; that tells you so much).
4 de jun. de 2019 · I wasn't going to buy this set, but listened to Rough Mix this morning for the first time in a while and was reminded how great Ronnie Lane was. I see the prices have shot up, but managed to snag a copy on Amazon UK for £55.99. With shipping came to NY came to US$76.70. Seems to be the lowest price out there if anyone is still looking.

25 de nov. de 2007 · Leaving the Faces was the best thing that ever happened to him musically, imo -- his biggest legacy is his solo work between 1973-1979 (and Rough Mix). It was, however, disastrous for him financially, with MS the final financial blow. So true. Somebody needs to start a Ronnie Lane album-by-album thread.
