Francis Albert Rollo Russell (11 July 1849 – 30 March 1914) was an English meteorologist and scientific writer. Russell was also an alternative cancer treatment advocate who promoted the idea that cancer is caused by excessive consumption of meat, alcohol, coffee and tea.

Rev. Sereno Bishop (18271909) of Honolulu made one of the. –. first reports of unusual optical phenomena following the Kra-katau eruption. By mid-September 1883 Bishop had made the speculative leap that the optical phenomena he had seen in Honolulu were caused by the eruption of Krakatau in August.
