Richard Coley Wellesley, the 1st Marquess Wellesley, was an Anglo-Irish politician and colonial administrator. He was appointed the fifth Governor-General of India from 1798 to 1805. He also served as Foreign Secretary during the Napoleonic Wars and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.
