Large, lengthy handwritten letter to Colonel Richard Norton, aiming to expedite the negotiations for the marriage of his son, Richard Cromwell, to Dorothy Maijor, the daughter of Richard Maijor, a member of the Hampshire gentry.

Ingoldsby vigorously supported the new Protector, who was his own kinsman, but after the Rump Parliament removed Richard he threw in his lot with General George Monck and the move towards the restoration of the English monarchy.

In the early sessions of the Third Protectorate Parliament, Hesilrige attempted to delay discussion of the Act of Recognition of the new Protector in the hope that Richard's authority would be compromised.
