Pauline Pfeiffer was a journalist and the second wife of Ernest Hemingway. She was born in 1895 in Iowa, studied at the University of Missouri, and worked at Vogue and Vanity Fair. She met Hemingway in Paris in 1926 and married him in 1927, but they divorced in 1940 after his affair with Martha Gellhorn. She died in 1951 from an adrenal tumor.
