In October 2016, it was announced that violinist and pianist Neil Amin-Smith had decided to leave Clean Bandit. Two days later, the group released their first song as a three-piece without Amin-Smith: "Rockabye", which features rapper Sean Paul and singer Anne-Marie.

Os membros da banda Jack Patterson, Grace Chatto e Milan Neil Amin-Smith se conheceram enquanto estudavam como alunos de graduação no Jesus College, na Universidade de Cambridge.
