Monwabisi Kwanda Mbeki. Monwabisi Kwanda Mpahlwa is the son of former South African President Thabo Mbeki and Olive Mpahlwa. His disappearance and presumed murder [further explanation needed] by SA authorities [clarify] has been a matter of international interest. [1]
Kwanda Mbeki vanished in 1981 while trying to join his father and other anti-apartheid activists in exile. He is assumed to have been killed by the white regime, but his body was never found. The National Prosecuting Authority is pursuing fresh leads in the case.

In October 1959, Mbeki had a son, Monwabisi Kwanda, with Olive Mpahlwa, a childhood friend which whom he had struck up a romance while at Lovedale. Kwanda was raised by his mother and later by Mbeki's mother, Epainette.
