Mary Murphy Schroeder (born December 4, 1940) is an American attorney and jurist serving as a senior United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
21 de ago. de 2019 · In 1979, Mary Murphy Schroeder joined a historic class of women judges who transformed the federal Judiciary, but her law career nearly ended before it began. The night before her first final law exam at the University of Chicago, Schroeder collapsed and was hospitalized with a severe kidney infection.

Biography: Mary M. Schroeder. The Women Trailblazers Project is the only nationwide project devoted exclusively to capturing, recording, and preserving the complete life histories of pioneering women lawyers as told by the women themselves.
She is the first in critical respects in her remarkable career: first woman to be an associate and then a partner in the law firm of Lewis and Roca in Phoenix; first woman to serve on the Arizona Court of Appeals, at the time the youngest woman appellate judge in the nation; and first woman to serve as Chief Judge on the Ninth Circuit.
Judge Schroeder was elected to the ALI in 1974 and was elected to the Council in 1993. She serves as an Adviser on the Principles of Government Ethics project and the Restatement Fourth, The Law of Consumer Contracts project.
