Mary Delany later Mary Pendarves (née Granville; 14 May 1700 – 15 April 1788) was an English artist, letter-writer, and bluestocking, known for her "paper-mosaicks" and botanic drawing, needlework and her lively correspondence.

In her 70s, Delany invented a form of paper-cutting or decoupage, which she called her "paper mosaiks" and created 985 of these intricate illustrations of botanical specimens.

In the autumn of 1772 Mary Delany (1700-88) wrote to her niece Mary Port: 'I have invented a new way of imitating flowers'. With her eye for botanical detail she would cut minute pieces of colored paper and stick them on a black background to represent each part of a specimen.
