  5. Marshall Rosenbluth was a pioneer in unleashing and taming nuclear fusion, the force that powers the sun and stars. He worked to foster international teamwork in fusion and physics research and was a central figure in the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, and the International Thermonuclear Reactor. He was a past faculty member of the School of Natural Sciences at IAS from 1967 to 1982.
