Sir Mark Walport is Chair of Imperial College Health Partners, taking up the role in January 2022. Sir Mark has previously worked in leadership roles in North West London, both as a clinical academic and as the Chair of the Imperial College Academic Health Sciences Centre.
Mark Walport retired as Chief Executive of UK Research and Innovation in 2020. UKRI was created in response to Sir Paul Nurse's review of the Research Councils published in 2015. Mark took up the role in April 2017 and led the creation and implementation of the organisation for its first three years.
