Maria de Hessa și de Rin (n. 8 august 1824 - d. 3 iunie 1880) a fost prințesă de Hessa și, sub numele de Maria Alexandrovna, ( rusă Мария Александровна ), împărăteasă a Rusiei, soția împăratului Alexandru al II-lea al Rusiei. S-a născut la Darmstadt, capitala Ducatului și a murit la Sankt Petersburg .

She arrived to continuous festivities, and she had a hard time adapting to her new surroundings – not surprising considering her age. On 17 December 1840, she was received into the Russian Orthodox Church and received the name Maria Alexandrovna.
Maria Alexandrovna (Russian: Мария Александровна), born Princess Wilhelmine Marie of Hesse and by Rhine (8 August 1824 – 3 June 1880), was Empress of Russia as the first wife and political adviser of Emperor Alexander II. She was one of the founders of the Russian Red Cross Society.
