Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia (17 October 1853 – 24 October 1920) she married Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on 23 January 1874. They had six children. Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia (11 May 1857 – 17 February 1905) he married Princess Elisabeth of Hesse and by Rhine on 15 June 1884.
10 de mai. de 2023 · Since the 1870s, Maria had spent the autumn and the fall in the warmer climates of the Crimea and Italy. Her health worsened after two assassination attempts on her husband’s life in 1879 and another one in 1880. Empress Maria Alexandrovna died at the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg on June 3, 1880, at the age of 55.
Maria Alexandrovna died alone in her bedroom on the night of 8 June 1880. Countess Alexandra Tolstaya, her lady-in-waiting, wrote: “The angel of death came for her quite quietly, while the whole house slept. No one, not even the surrounding nurses, could state the exact moment when her dear soul departed the earth.”
