Admiral of the Fleet (posthumous) Mahidol Adulyadej (1892-1929) was former prince and a member of the Thai royal family. He was the father of Thai kings Ananda Mahidol ( Rama VIII) and Bhumibol Adulyadej ( Rama IX ). He is known as the Father of modern medicine and public health in Thailand.
Prince Mahidol Adulyadej of Songkla was the father of His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej, the reigning King of Thailand—and one of the earliest and most honored alumni of Harvard School of Public Health. The Prince kept a low profile when he was a student at the Harvard-MIT School for Health Officers (as HSPH was called at the time) from 1916-1921.
