Lynn Davies CBE (born 20 May 1942) is a Welsh former track and field athlete who specialised in the long jump. He was the 1964 Olympic champion in the event . He was born in Nantymoel near Bridgend and was a member of the Cardiff Amateur Athletic Club .

15 de out. de 2014 · Lynn Davies, the only Welsh track and field Olympic champion, reveals how he won the long jump in 1964 Tokyo. He overheard Ralph Boston, the world-record holder, saying he did not think anyone would jump eight metres that day.
Há 1 dia · In atrocious weather conditions, Davies won a classic competition in Tokyo to become the first British athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in a field event since Timothy Ahearne's victory in the triple jump in 1908. Davies' winning mark of 26-5¾ (8.07) was yet another Commonwealth record.
