Luisa Vertova (30 December 1920 – 28 June 2021) was an Italian art historian. Her research work mostly focused on Renaissance Italian painters such as Piero della Francesca, Mantegna, Paolo Veronese, Titian, Botticelli and Caravaggio.

Luisa Vertova (at right) - Art historian and Assistant to Berenson in the post-war period. Born in Florence, Luisa studied art history and archaeology at Florence university in the early 1940s. At the end of the war, when Luisa was quite unwell, Bernard Berenson, through mutual friends, invited Luisa to come and recuperate at 'Casa al Dono'.

29 de jun. de 2021 · Luisa Vertova, art historian, assistant to Bernard Berenson, scholar of Botticelli, Carpaccio, and Veronese, author of important essays, and historical advisor to Christie’s, passed away yesterday in Florence.
Both documents and photos provide outstanding documentation on art market in Italy between early Sixties and mid-Eighties, when Luisa Vertova, art historian and connoisseur, was charged to be Christie’s International Senior Consultant and Old Master Paintings and Drawings Specialist.
