Ludwig Tieck war ein deutscher Dichter, Übersetzer, Herausgeber und Kritiker der Frühromantik. Er prägte diese Bewegung mit seinen Märchen und Erzählungen, die er selbst als Verfasser programmatischer Texte und als Übersetzer und Herausgeber von Kleist's Werken verfasste. Er lebte von 1773 bis 1853 in verschiedenen Städten und war ein Schüler von Novalis und Eichendorff.
