Kurt Otto Friedrichs (September 28, 1901 – December 31, 1982) was a German-American mathematician. He was the co-founder of the Courant Institute at New York University, and a recipient of the National Medal of Science.

Biography. Abstract. Kurt Otto Friedrichs was Distinguished Professor of Mathematics, Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University (1937-1982). Other institutional affiliations included Brunswick Technical University and University of Göttingen.
