Before a crowd well-stocked with government officials and army officers, he delivered a textbook speech attesting to his desire to “appreciate at first hand all that India is, and has done, and can do.”

16 de jul. de 2021 · – When the Prince of Wales stepped off the Renown, he was welcomed with a grand ceremony at the Gateway of India in Bombay. It was attended by British officials and many Indian princes. He was going to tour more than 35 cities, from Bombay to Calcutta, and Madras to Karachi.
One of King’s most memorable experiences was residing at Mani Bhaven, Gandhi’s Bombay residence. He noted in the guestbook: “To have the opportunity of sleeping in the house where Gandhiji slept is really an experience I will never forget” ( Papers 5:134 ).
In the autumn, she visited an exhibition of paintings by the rival Bombay Art School at India House, which she and King George V officially opened in July that year. [31] The Queen was presented with several works of art, including a small painting owned by Leslie Wilson, the former Governor of Bombay.
