Kerry Anne Wells (born 25 September 1951 in Perth) is an Australian fashion designer, writer, commentator, news anchor and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 1972. The 1972 pageant was the first to take place outside the continental United States. That year, it was held in Dorado, Puerto Rico.

At the end of the event, Miss Universe 1970 Marisol Malaret crowned Kerry Anne Wells of Australia as Miss Universe 1972. [1] . It is the first victory of Australia in the pageant's history. Georgina Rizk of Lebanon, was not allowed to crown her successor due to government restrictions because of fears of a terrorist attack. [2]

Hoje faz 50 anos, que acontecia no Cerromar Beach Hotel, em Dorado, Porto Rico, o concurso de Miss Universo de 1972. Participaram do concurso 61 candidatas. A vencedora foi Kerry Anne Wells, da Austrália e brasileira Rejane Vieira Costa ficou no 2º lugar. O apresentador foi Bob Barker.
There have been two Miss Universe title holders representing Australia: Kerry Anne Wells in 1972 and Jennifer Hawkins in 2004. Welles entered the Miss Universe pageant as Miss Australia; Hawkins was chosen Miss Universe Australia and went on to win the Miss Universe title in Quito.
