28 de jul. de 2019 · From 1658 - with the help from Sweden - the dukes got a certain sovereignty of their areas, but after the Great Nordic War, in 1721 when Sweden lost and could not longer support the dukes, the Gottorp part of Schleswig was incorporated in Denmark, while the Holstein part remained ruled by the dukes.
