When Jane Leveson- Gower was born on 26 July 1700, her father, John Leveson-Gower 1st Baron Gower, was 25 and her mother, Catherine Manners, was 25. She married John Proby on 5 January 1719, in Elton Hall, Huntingdonshire, England, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 1 daughter.
Lord Ronald Charles Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (2 August 1845 – 9 March 1916), was a British sculptor, best known for his statue of Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon. He also wrote biographies of Marie Antoinette and Joan of Arc, as well as serving as Liberal Member of Parliament for Sutherland.
John Edward Leveson-Gower was the son of John Leveson-Gower and Charlotte Gertrude Elizabeth Mitchell. He married, firstly, Harriet Jane Hunter, daughter of Captain John Hunter, on 7 March 1850. He married, secondly, Katherine Elizabeth Cochrane, daughter of Basil Edward Arthur Cochrane and Sally Caroline FitzGerald, on 1 May 1879.
She was the eldest daughter of John Leveson-Gower, 1st Earl Gower, and his wife, the former Lady Evelyn Pierrepont. She married the Duke of Bedford on 2 April 1737. The earl's first wife, the former Lady Diana Spencer, had died in 1735, of tuberculosis; Diana's only child by the earl - John Russell, Marquess of Tavistock - had died in infancy.

Leveson-Gower was born on 25 February 1838 in the prominent Leveson-Gower family. He was the son of William Leveson-Gower of Titsey Place and Emily Josephine Eliza (née Doyle) Leveson-Gower. He was a great-great grandson of John Leveson-Gower, 1st Earl Gower, descending from his youngest son, John Leveson-Gower, a Royal Navy officer.
