  5. George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen. Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair, in the County of Aberdeen, in the County of Meath and in the County of Argyll, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 4 January 1916 for John Hamilton-Gordon, 7th Earl of Aberdeen.

  6. John Campbell Gordon was the grandson of Conservative prime minister George Hamilton-Gordon. Having succeeded to the earldom on his eldest brother's death in 1870, he took up his seat in the House of Lords, where he was a close friend and supporter of the Whig prime minister, William Gladstone.
