  1. John Butler Yeats (16 March 1839 – 3 February 1922) was an Irish artist and the father of W. B. Yeats, Lily Yeats, Elizabeth Corbett "Lolly" Yeats and Jack Butler Yeats. The National Gallery of Ireland holds a number of his portraits in oil and works on paper, including one of his portraits of his son William, painted in 1900. [1]

  3. John Butler Yeats was a painter and critic, the eldest son of the Rev. William Butler Yeats. He studied at Trinity College, Dublin, and in London, and became a portrait painter in Ireland and New York. He was influenced by his father's Protestantism, his mother's culture, and his friends in the arts and politics. He died in 1922.
