CRAIG, JAMES HENRY. (1748–1812). British officer and colonial governor. James Craig was born in Gibraltar in 1748, the son of Hew Craig, a Scots judge in the fortress. Gazetted ensign in the Thirtieth Foot in 1763 when he was fifteen, he was allowed to attend military schools in Europe before joining his regiment.
