Jackanory is a BBC children's television series that stimulated an interest in reading by featuring actors reading from children's novels or folk tales. The show ran from 1965 to 1996 and was revived in 2006 and 2009. It also spawned a spin-off series, Jackanory Junior, and a version for younger children, Jackanory Playhouse.
